CHRISTMAS PROJECT 2005
FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE A PARENT IN JAIL

One of the ways we have been carrying out our mission is the LMA TOY PROJECT. Thanks to your generosity, we've been able to bring smiles to thousands and thousands of children in the St. Louis area who have a mom or a dad in jail or prison. You bring smiles to these faces as they receive and open gifts while visiting mom or dad. This is a happy time of sharing and giving and provides wonderful memories for everyone involved. Serving even the littlest of God's children is a constant reminder of the greatest gift WE have received--the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

Imagine how difficult it can be for a child to see their parent crying because the heat has been turned off or there is not enough money to buy food. For the children who have a mother or father incarcerated, there is a very real possibility that there could be no presents to open on Christmas morning. No pain is equal to disappointing your child. Imagine how powerless the incarcerated parent feels not being able to help their family and especially their children.

Lutheran Ministries Association is asking for your help to make Christmas a special time for these little ones. We are asking congregations and day schools in the St. Louis area to be an LMA TOY PROJECT SUPPORTER. If you have supported us in the past we thank you. If this is your first year, we welcome you!

There are many ways you can help.

• Infants from birth to 3 years of age
• Young children ages 4-6, 10-12, and 13 and older
• Discount store gift certificates for adolescents ages 14 and older
• Grocery gift cards or certificates for families in need of food
• Cash donations to help families pay utility bills

You can either bring your toys and donations to the LMA office or serve as a drop off site. If you can help or if you have questions, please call Sarah Barnes at (314) 652-4300 ext 14.
